A year and one month ago, I created this video as part of @triple-q‘s Love Determination movement to get his channel reinstated after a copyright takedown. The mashup itself, Love Determination was taken off of his Youtube channel, so he encouraged other people to reupload it on their own channels in whatever form they wish.

Ironically, when I tried to upload mine, it was taken down for the visuals instead of the audio. For a long time I let it stay on Tumblr, but once Star Halations was released by Disney, I worked up the gumption to dispute this claim on Youtube. Twas a success, and thus the video lives once again. I’m glad. It’s a pretty sick video.

Ode to the Enders

This one’s a doozy. I was working on a much larger, much more ambitious video about Zone of the Ender’s as a whole (largely inspired by Dunkey’s Halo videos), and I may still return to and finish it (because I like how a lot of it came out) but at the time it was clearly too much for me to be tackling.

I knew one of my talking points was going to be the crazy cliffhanger ending of ZoE1, in which the protagonist fights a nigh invincible rival. But then I watched Episodes 24, 25, and 26 of Evangelion 3 times each, and was struck with inspiration. I decided to edit the grand finale of my ZoE video before the rest of it was finished, and the product was Ode to the Enders. For those who don’t know, it’s based off an iconic scene (<-spoilers) from episode 24 of Evangelion, in which the protagonist fights a nigh invincible rival, to the tune of Ode to Joy. Truly, that scene is the greatest achievement of Lilin culture.

This is actually why I put emphasis on the dialogue in the first 30 seconds; in the larger context of the big video it made more sense, but
when I chopped off this little 2-minute clip and released it as a stand-alone video, those details got carried over.

Majora’s Third Impact

My first video! Majora’s Third Impact was the product of watching End of Evangelion 3 times in a row back-to-back. This was a case of sudden spontaneous inspiration. Once I started, I breezed through and finished in about an hour.

Of course, that shouldn’t be a surprise. If you watch the original source video linked below, you’ll see that I didn’t actually have to edit the original clip beyond 1 or 2 small cuts. But it still came out great!

Interesting fact: I ended up using Times New Roman Condensed for the Title Card and Credits, in order to emulate the look of the iconic Evangelion splash screens.

Because of this, the first video on my channel to actually feature TW Cen MT (the font I always use) is Ode to the Enders. However, there exists an early render of Majora’s Third Impact featuring that font! (pictured below)

WOW. Well, I whipped this up to further support Triple-Q’s sick YouTube crusade. But wouldn’t you know it, the YouTube Content ID system blocked it for the footage and not the song. Figures! (thx Anno I hate u)

But better to put it out here on Tumblr with the weird compression problems than to let it sit, hopeless, on my desktop. After all, YouTube can’t keep us down. Nothing can!
